Day 11 in Cairns- The Last Day :| Cairns Botanical Gardens

20 JUNE 2022

“First stop, the Botanic Gardens!” I exclaimed. It was a superb Sunday morning and we had just finished our breakfast. Wow! This holiday slipped away so quickly! It was already the last day of my holiday! That super special Sunday, my father decided to take us to the Botanic Gardens! We were all elated.

Once we entered the marvelous Botanic Gardens, boisterous chirping was heard. We marveled at the different types of plants that surrounded us. One of the trees caught our attention. There were strange objects that looked like peanuts hanging from that particular tree. We walked under that strange tree! I examined it closely…”Why is it like this?” I wondered.

Strange. Strange. Strange.

Next, more strange things happened around us! This was strange… The labels were strange, from what I can remember. There were many strange, narrow and untiled paths, leading to strange plants and strange rivers. One of the paths led to the oldest tree I had ever seen! I wondered how it survived for so long. Very STRANGE!!! I couldn’t even hug it! There were vines twirling around it and many plants grew ON it. Can you believe that?

Here’s a photo to make you trust me:

What a gigantic tree!!!

Anyway, do you know how to tell how old a tree is?

By looking at the rings on the inside, of course! The more rings a tree has, the older it is. Also, the more rings a tree has, the thicker its trunk. The trunk of this tree was so thick, so it must be very old! Let’s take a look!

Sigh! Good times always pass fast. A moment later, it was time for us to leave Cairns…Sniff, sniff! “Come on! Don’t you miss home?” my parents comforted.

After the ’emotional period’, we arrived at the airport. Since we still had time, we bought some souvenirs to remember this memorable trip to Cairns after two years of staying-at-home. “Bye Australia! See you soon…hopefully!” I waved out of the window of the plane. I took one last look at the place where I had spent my holiday. I did not want to mention, but I am in tears while typing all this for you…Sniff! Ahh…Recalling, I was actually enjoying myself! Watching movies…eating meals…sleeping…playing games…

I arrived home at 2.00a.m. the next day! What a tiring and exciting trip to Queensland! Hope the tips are useful! Make sure to visit Queensland and read about my adventure in Thailand! See you in the next adventure!
